Suspension: Dana Air decries non-commencement of audit

The management of Dana Air has decried the delay in the commencement of its operational audit as announced by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
The NCAA had on October 6, 2013, suspended the operations of Dana Air to allow for an operational audit of the companys activities.

In an open letter to the NCAA on Thursday, the company wondered why the agency had yet to commence the audit, adding that its workers had been thrown into hardship following airlines inability to operate commercial flights.
The letter signed by the Head, Corporate Communications, Dana Air, Mr. Tony Usidamen, stated, As a result of the suspension (and understandably so), the airline directed its Nigerian and expatriate staff to proceed on compulsory leave without pay, with a promise to recall them as soon as the audit process is completed.
It is now three weeks since the NCAAs directive, and though the airline is open and ready for the planned audit, it is worrisome that the NCAA has yet to commence the audit and no clear direction or timeline has been given to the airline for the completion of the same.
The continuous grounding of Dana Air is causing untold hardship for the hitherto gainfully-employed staff members of the airline, and with NCAAs inaction regarding the audit, there appears to be no relief in sight to the suffering of the airlines staff members and their numerous dependants…….
