Man Rapes & Impregnates His 14-Year Old Daughter, Blames Witches

The Nigerian Police in Lagos State said it has arrested a 36-year old man who allegedly raped and impregnated his 14-year old daughter.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ngozi Braide, made this known when she briefed newsmen in Ikeja on Friday.
Braide said the girl had been pregnant for the past two months and that the man claimed to be bewitched.
She added that the mother of the girl divorced her father seven years ago.

Suspected Kidnappers killed In Delta by The Nigerian Police Force(NPF)

A gun battle between policemen and members of a kidnapping gang operating in Lagos, Ondo, Edo and Delta State has led to the death of four suspected kidnappers.

In a statement in Asaba, Acting Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Charles Muka, said the kidnappers were recruited by two natives of Oghara community to kidnap a prominent son of the community.
He gave their names as Ebi Ngboroko, John Lahuru, Emmanuel Omorege and Rufus Tamaraini.

Russia’s ITAR-TASS news agency reported the news on Monday, citing the office of the presidency in the Udmurtia region where he worked.

The war of words between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his estranged political godson, incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan, worsened over the weekend, with Obasanjo insisting that he stands by the allegations he made against Jonathan in his controversial open letter of December 2, 2013.

Jonathan had rejected Obasanjo’s weighty allegations in his reply dated December 20 but Obasanjo the next day told a select group of visiting All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders that he stood by the issues he raised in his letter.

Recreation Centres, Churches To Be Well Guarded This Yuletide – STF

The Special Task Force (STF) on security in Plateau said it would deploy its personnel to search visitors at recreation centres in the state during Christmas and New Year festivities.

The STF disclosed this in a press statement signed by the Media Coordinator, Capt Salisu Mustapha, in Jos on Saturday.
According to the statement, the STF will carry out the task jointly with local security operatives.
The STF stated further that the search was to ensure that firearms were not smuggled into the recreation centres.

Three Men Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Stealing N50,000

 

The Supreme Court yesterday upheld the death sentence given to three men for robbing a woman of N50,000 at gun point.

Kayode Babarinde, Akeem Haruna and Yusuf Nurudeen had earlier been sentenced to death by hanging by the Kwara State High Court and the Ilorin Division of the Court of Appeal.

Obasanjo’s Letter: Respond To Allegations In National Interest – Clark To Jonathan

 

Former Federal Commissioner of Information and elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to reply and address the allegations contained in a letter former President Olusegun Obasanjo wrote to him in the national interest.

Clark, who was speaking with journalists at the Nigeria Centenary Lecture in London on Tuesday, said that the allegations, “though false”, were too weighty for the president to ignore.
“Jonathan should reply the letter not because of Obasanjo, but for the sake of Nigerians”, the Ijaw national leader said.

An Ukrainian captain and a Greek engineer Kidnapped Off Nigerian Coast

An Ukrainian captain and a Greek engineer on an oil products tanker have been kidnapped by pirates off the coast of Nigeria, Greek coast guard officials said on Tuesday.
The 6,500 ton Marshall Islands-flaggged MT ALTHEA with 18 crew on board was attacked by a group of 10 pirates, the officials said.

The ship’s manager, Piraeus-based Medtankers Management, confirmed the attack.
“We are doing everything we can for their release,” an official at the firm said on condition of anonymity, adding that so far, no ransom demand had been received.

Ghebreab spoke with journalists at the Launch of the new note at the office of the U.S. Consulate-General in Lagos.

She said that such an examination would enable them to differentiate the “new authentic $100 note” from the old notes, as well as counterfeited ones.
The U.S envoy said that it was imperative for Nigerians to be on their guard, especially now that they were making Christmas and New Year transactions.

Nigerian doctors begin 5-day warning strike

Nigerian doctors yesterday began a 5-day warning strike following a 21-day ultimatum issued weeks ago to the federal government, demanding pay rise, improved welfare, infrastructure and other benefits which was promised to them.

The President of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Osahon Enabulele said this is the first phase of the strike, that the second phase would be effective after the yuletide if there are no favorable developments.
