A prostituté in Bayelsa State sold her a day old baby girl for 20,000 Naira



A prostituté in Bayelsa State sold her a day old baby girl for 20,000 Naira (equivalent to $110) to a family in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Bayelsa State Police Command Spokesman, Mr. Alex Akhigbe confirmed the incident, saying investigation into the incident led them to trace the family that bought the baby in Port Harcourt.

Akhigbe said: “Though the details of the investigation are sketchy, the special unit of the police is on its way to effect the recovery of the baby and arrest the family that bought the child.”

Resident decry robbery attacks

Meantime, residents Yenagoa which is the state capital of Bayelsa have raised alarm over the rising wave of robberies and burglaries by a criminal gang which uses a sleep inducing substance suspected to be Ketamine.

It was learnt that before the criminal gang carry out their operation, they blow the powdery substance into the homes to make their victims sleep off.

A staff of the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri, was a victim of the syndicate last weekend, as he was robbed of his valuables, including laptops, mobile phones and jewelry.

He said: “We noticed there was a residue of white powdered substance by the window. The window burglary proof was cut and the footprint of the hoodlums were noticed on the leather sofa by the window.”

Alex Akhigbe, said that such report has not gotten to them before but the police command will investigate and ensure that the criminals are brought to book.
